All of our ottomans and footstools are crafted with HDPE lumber that outperforms wood and other plastics time and time again. This innovative outdoor furniture material is made to be loved in any season and won’t chip, crack, peel, fade, rot, or require painting to stay vibrant.

“These ottomans make sitting in the Adirondack chairs more comfortable for longer periods of time. Love them! Polywood is a dream come true at our lake home!”

- Elizabeth B.

Adirondack Ottoman Colors

Enjoy the view, kick back with a cold drink and your favorite hue. Our Adirondack collection comes in versatile neutrals and shades inspired by nature that effortlessly blend in with your surroundings. If you want a pop of color, there’s also a rainbow of brilliant hues for you to choose from. Best of all, we use light-stable pigments, stabilizers, and UV inhibitors in our lumber to protect the products’ colors against the elements.

What’s the difference between an ottoman and a footstool?

Ultimately, “footstool” is an umbrella term that describes any furniture made to prop up your feet. Ottomans are simply one type of footstool. The term footstool also encompasses items designed as individual pieces that don’t necessarily match back to other furniture.

Outdoor Furniture FAQs
Are Adirondack ottomans comfortable?
Yes, Adirondack ottomans were specifically created with comfort in mind. The classic sloped design keeps legs elevated in an ergonomic-friendly way.
Who created the first Adirondack chair?
Thomas Lee created the first Adirondack chair in the early 20th century. Lee had a summer home in Westport, a small town nestled in the Adirondack Mountains, and wanted a chair that could handle the rugged, hilly terrain. Lee’s original invention was called the Westport chair, which was patented by his friend Harry Bunnell in 1904. Eventually, the better-known Adirondack name caught on and quickly became the iconic outdoor chair it is today.
Are Adirondack and Muskoka chairs the same?
While very similar, Adirondack and Muskoka chairs are not the same. Adirondack chairs hail from upstate New York; Muskoka chairs are named after an idyllic region outside of Ontario, Canada. Adirondack chairs are wider and sit higher off the ground, making them easy to get in and out of. Additionally, Muskoka chairs have a slightly curved back, whereas Adirondack chairs feature a flat back.
Adirondack Furniture Styles

Folding

A multifunctional spin on a beloved design, our folding Adirondack chairs are a breeze to travel with and store when not in use. Whether your family is always on the go or you’re working with a small space, this style may be your perfect fit. To fold, simply remove two pins at the front of the chair.

Rocking

The laidback ease of an Adirondack chair plus the soothing motion of a rocker? That’s a match made in leisure heaven. Our rocking Adirondacks are the perfect place for quiet reflection, but we think they’re best enjoyed over conversations with friends and family on the porch.

Sets

Offered in a variety of colors, styles, and seating options, our Adirondack chair sets create designated comfort zones or conversation corners in any outdoor space. Gather around the fire pit, invite the neighbors over, spend quality time with your partner: these all-in-one sets always play well with others.

Classic

Boasting traditional slats and a fan-back silhouette, our classic Adirondack chairs pay homage to the early 20th-century original. From beach houses and cozy mountain cottages to your everyday abode, nothing says outdoor living quite like the charmingly classic Adirondack.

Modern

With clean lines and simplified design details, our modern Adirondack chairs hit refresh on a quintessential outdoor staple. We traded in the exaggerated curves for straight edges but kept the same comforts you know and love, like the contoured seats and rounded waterfall fronts.

Cushions

Our all-weather, year-round cushions are crafted with the same expert detail as our durable furniture. All of the available cushion fabrics are resistant to mold, mildew, sea spray, and water. Plus, their quick-drying ability lets you get right back to enjoying the sunshine after a bout of bad weather.
